PotD – 091121 – I District

A sort of naturalist/synthetic mashup, cubed.
Substrate is a sand and clay mixture, was able to terraform by adding water. Time will tell how structurally sound it is but the packaging suggests going as far as creating caves and tunnels.
Replacing the digital thermometer with an analog one, thing’s been wonky for ages.
Quite the change from the minimalist tank I’ve maintained for over a decade now, but a trip to Afghanistan (where leopard geckos DWELL) inspired something the guy could at least attempt to burrow in. I know Starship Jim is a digger and while my own gecko has been thriving since 1996 I figured he was due a housing makeover.
Looking to add some air plants in to the backing, going to monitor temp and humidity over the next day or so to see if that’ll work.
Finally got around to picking up a dual swing-arm monitor/laptop mount.

Still a work in progress, need to grab that secondary monitor and cable everything up.

Hit up an intro to basic electronics class last week.

Part of my introductory foray in to high definition TV and surround sound involved the discovery that my TV, while awesome, doesn’t have audio out. As such HDMI out from the 360 bypassed my new speakers and went straight to the TV.
The hell!?
The component cable simply doesn’t fit alongside HDMI on the 360 unless this simple “hack” is performed which involves removing the plastic casing with a shim or butter knife. In this manner video and sound go to the TV and stereo sound goes to the receiver. I’ll switch to optical eventually but this silly hack did the trick in a pinch.
Still way behind in uploading, but San Diego tide pool shots are up.
Was cool but kind of picked over, no sweet pokable sea creatures to be found.
Finally stickered this shiz up.

Thanks to my peeps for making with the contributions.
Few shots from one side of the world to the other.
Shot while reclined in the airport waiting area looking straight up. One of the only hardened structures on the base and with a history all of its own this building was unnaturally eerie. Didn’t shoot a lot in here but you can see an exterior photo here and yes, those are bullet holes.
Shot out the window of our jet, like something out of a sci-fi novel.

Coworker contently enjoying lunch. Probably wouldn’t have guess he just spent 3+ months in the dirt.

Changing out SIM cards in my favorite airport in the world, Kuwait International. I’d have loved to shoot just a fraction of the folks I saw there but lacked the junk to, you know, tromp all over local custom. You’ll literally see tourist Germans, Kuwaiti men in their white robes, women in varying stages of concealment from slight to complete, and teens in rhinestone belts and hot pink head wraps. Freakin’ best people watching airport ever, hands down.
Working through a backlog of shots from the last few weeks, prepare for bursts.
